Dell laptops are also great deals these days. You can pick up these on finance plans for almost nothing each month. For example, if you wanted a cheap pre-owned laptop from Dell, you could go through their finance plan and pay as little as $10/month for it. Of course you'll probably pay more in the long run, but it's not like we're buying a car here. If you end up paying an extra $60 over the course of 2-3 years, it's not going to hurt you that much. Naturally though, I recommend buying your laptop with cash to avoid such finance charges.

Some of these laptops are so cheap that you can be in and out of the store within 30 minutes with a laptop that doesn't even cost $500! Check out places such as Best Buy, Walmart, and even places online for great selections on some of these laptops. Acer is a great brand because it's almost a disposable laptop.
